Paws, People & Pitt Street: Unleash Pet Fest Brings Downtown to Life

June 26, 2025

Unleash Pet Fest returned to Pitt Street this year with wagging tails, smiling faces, and a deep sense of community connection at its core. With 28 vendors ranging from pet rescues and services to artisan makers and food trucks, the event once again transformed downtown Cornwall into a lively, pet-friendly hub.

While attendance held strong with an estimated 1,500–2,000 people—and a wide variety of furry (and not-so-furry) companions—the day felt even more engaging than previous years. Organizers noted a smoother event flow, stronger engagement, and a steady stream of visitors from start to finish. This year also welcomed the return of familiar faces: repeat vendors, Pet Parade entrants, and attendees who’ve made Pet Fest a tradition.

New activities for families and pets, a refined event layout, and overwhelmingly positive feedback from the community helped make this year’s festival a standout. “Pet Fest is truly growing into something people look forward to each year,” the organizing team shared.

The event's success wouldn’t be possible without the ongoing support of the DBIA. From helping navigate city logistics to promoting local businesses, the DBIA’s involvement is a cornerstone of Pet Fest’s impact. “Their funding and support are critical—we truly couldn’t run Pet Fest without it,” organizers said.

By keeping the event rooted in the heart of downtown, Unleash Pet Fest not only brings people together but also drives meaningful foot traffic to local shops and services. Over the past three events, the festival has raised more than $2,000 and supported eight local animal rescues—proving that when pets, people, and community come together, everyone wins.
